Basic Western Cedar 2

 "Eight BHs ready for paint and trim"

I like using rescued lumber in as many birdhouses as possible. In some models only the base and perch will be from scrap lumber, e.g., rescued from the curb. In these eight western cedar models the faces are made from new cedar fence slats but the rest is rescued from Joe Flagler's dock reno, Fenelon Falls.


In the initial post about these 8 BHs I mention a particular modification I've made with this style: In the photos below you can see it very clearly.

"The sides are nailed onto the outside of the face"

"The sides have to be 1.5 inches longer than in
earlier models but I have lots of rescued cedar"

With that simple change the floor space (if six inches deep) is 25% greater. And the birds are at least 50% happier.
